Political and Legal Actions: Domestic Litigation Campaign
The families represented at the PTPK and those represented in the wider cohort now look toward pursuing political and legal actions to advance our aims and demands for justice, including action in domestic and international settings. As part of the various actions, families intend to bring private prosecutions against the police officers responsible for killing their loved ones, and against officials who have command responsibility, e.g. Police Commissioners, Chief Constables, policing bodies tasked with the investigation of these crimes (including the Independent Office for Police Conduct), those overseeing the failed judicial system (such as the Crown Prosecution Service), as well as those in the highest positions (such as the Home Secretary).
The People’s Tribunal has set up a legal section consisting of families, activists, and lawyers and have instructed legal counsel in support of our actions.“The PTPK calls on the ultimate reservoir of power—people worldwide—to hold the British state accountable and demand justice for families. The People’s Tribunal will create new realities for the future, reach out across the globe, and kindle hope. In the face of state denial, it is an act of resistance, a refusal to be silenced, a celebration of humanity, and an act of revolutionary love.”
To this end we call on the support of the people to join in this radical and unprecedented movement to take this class action. The support needed is both moral and material. If you want to contribute to the actions in any form please email: tribunalpeoples@gmail.com
The action will need financial support. The PTPK is entirely voluntary and legal support is being given pro bono by a team of radical lawyers. The funding will only be used to directly support the families and facilitate the action. To this end we announce the establishment of the Prosecute the Police Fund (PPF) that will be used to pursue those responsible and those who have colluded in the killings, through the courts.
